We are happy to report you, we have released bbpress plugin new version to support prevent a few kinds of spam-bot to register as users of your wordpress / bbpress site automatically, based on a few users’ suggestion and feedback 🙂
Why we develop a function to prevent spam-bot registration in the register form?
The user said he want to stop use bbpress forum, he is using buddypress and bbpress:
We already have several means of stopping spam registrations, none is idea. This is another reason for us to move to some other platform for member interaction.
We replied to the bbpress user:
About stop spam, in the current time, we did a few works on our bbpress plugin platform — bbp.design and buddypress plugin platform — membersonly.top, on bbpress side, we did some work to stop spam in these plugins:
2: bbpress new user approve — new users need approved by admin manually
3: bbpress dmail domain bad words & blacklist whitelist security plugin
bbpress admin can add mail domains or to prevent spam domain register in wordpress / bbpress site, and admin can add some specific words in email username to prevent some spam users…etc
4: bbpress ban users , admin can ban users with specific days,
Also we will try to develop a new version of bbpress login plugin to stop the spam-bot like this way:
1: we will add a new fake dynamic input field — with a label like this “Real humans do not fill in this filed”
2: the name value in input text will be changed everytime when you load a register form — to avoid spam-bot get the input text and bypass this file
3: when the spam-bot register as a member, if the filled in the fake input text, in backend, we will return an error, “You have filled in the fields that humans should not”
Also do you think if we add a mute / ban button in each bbpress topic or buddypress activity, will help stop spam user? Once a user mute / ban a bbpress topic or buddypress activity, then ban the author from posting on bbpress / buddypress with a few days? Is it crazy? Do you think are there any more methods to stop spam? We are happy to realize it for you 🙂
Also we are try to add a new option to allow admin disable comments, because in backend, we found most of spam-bot just want to publish comments no wordpress blogs, if admin opt to disable comment, many spam-bot will stop try to register as a new user? We also try to add a fake input filed in comment form too 🙂

How to use the function of prevent spam-bot registration in the register form?
This new function included in bbpress login pro 3.7.0 and bbpress free 3.2.5, once you upgraded to the new version of bbpress login plugin:
1: you will find a new menu item “Register Form”. If you click the “Register Form” menu item, you will open bbPress Register Form settings panel, it looks like this:

2: Then in the register form, you will find a new input text “Real humans do not fill in this filed” , it looks like this:
Real humans do not fill in this field
3: If users do not enter content in this “Real humans do not fill in this field” input text field, they will register as a normal user, else they get error message: “You have filled in the fields that humans should not”, it looks like this:

It is very easy, we hope this will help wordpress / bbpress admin to prevent a few kinds of spam-bot 🙂
